SUMMER SAVORY, Satureja hortensis
Annual plant. The entire aerial part of the plant can be used as a spice. At the beginning of April, the whole plants are cut and dried in a ventilated place. Savory is a great addition to fish, meat, beans, soups and sauces. It gives them a specific taste, facilitates digestion and stimulates the appetite. A perfect spice for pickling cucumbers and cabbage. Sowing in March, April in boxes, on pallets under covers or directly into the ground. In the temperature of 20-25 degrees C, emergence takes place after 2-3 weeks. In the second half of May, seedlings should be planted in rows every 30 cm, on carefully prepared soil, in a sunny position.
